Another league with a significant drop from steam/tourist retention.

Aside from tokotokero usual takes..

This league "mechanic" is insanely bland and repetitive. Doing twice the mechanic you "enjoy" seems good in paper but not if you're willing to chase the very deep endgame challenges or grind for currency.

I know it's a league mechanic it is supposed to be repetitive sure but the lack of excitement and interesting choices is absolute clear.. sure there's some really interesting ones like the 1alch seer or a kalandra mirror (dont remember how it's called right now the mechanic with the rings but who cares point is there) and the 3 map bosses that drop absolute nothing despite running overly modded maps..

Overrall this league got a bunch of endgame changes which honestly they need SO MUCH work ahead the astrolabes are so rare even with destructive play. The rewards unless from one section of the atlas ends up being in a waste of time this is a massive mistake when they put the rewards on this system..

I'm not very confident that they can fix the tons of things this new endgame needs changing (UI for example needs WAY more work like who thought it was a good idea to hide the map region unless you "discover" it? I thought we were past beyond this type of bs gameplay for progression) because the other game now exists and it drains resources that poe will need in order to fix the current new endgame that already need tons of polishing in my eyes.

Turns out when you nerf many builds and destroy many farms people leave

They clearly didn't get a lessone from many people playing D3/D4 for 3 days, clearing season and leaving

I made 3 mirror build and the most profitable is to run either breaches (need a hh for 30d and build for 50) or boxes (need even less).

So what's the point?

Should unnerf game, bring back more builds that are really strong and activities that give great drop. Like nerfing T17 because casuals can't clear them was stupid.

Also ban trade bots as well.

Again; a drop-off isn't necessarily negative. SEVERAL prominent players, as well as guild members and friends, have "all" placed Mirage in their top five leagues of all time, but have moved on to either the new LE season or other things.

People play intensively for a few weeks then feel fulfilled. That's not necessarily a negative thing, but does maybe increase the chances of them being back next league. I think players taking breaks is good for them AND the game in the long run. I don't even think their goal is or should be to keep us here for several month - between PoE1 and PoE2. A player burning out on either game will hurt both of them.

That said; the game is in an easy state and rewarding state, which means a lot of players will feel "done" faster. I'm sure once we get a league where they add more grind and/or new difficult bosses - or a league mechanic with its own endgame grind will help retention.

90+% of the playerbase does not care where top-end players and streamers rank a league. Which is exactly what retention shows. How does the general population feel about a league?

If you are a top-end blaster dumping divs into maps, then sure, it was a fun league. Other than that, it was really extremely lackluster.

The bubble gum buff was nice, but now they need to focus on closing the gap to max juice and normal mapping as far as RAW drops go, and not stuff from clicking a box or tileset reward.

This is exactly why Affliction, Sentinel, Metamorph, and Tota have some of the best retention from 30 to 60 days. Because normies could actually have some fun and get good rewards. Either by staying in T8 maps or having a completely separate sidegame that had not been nerfed into "hyper efficiency," farmers are the only ones who should bother to even try it.

Turns out people play ARPGs to kill monsters and get loot, not click boxes or become a person who farms shovels to sell to others who get to kill monsters and get loot.

What players tend to label as “retention” is, in reality, just a reflection of a very consistent pattern that shows up every single league. A large portion of the player base engages heavily at the start, then naturally tapers off after about two or three weeks once they have achieved what they wanted or simply move on. That is all this metric is truly capturing.

The decline happens because players are done playing the league, or they jump into different games, not because a league is inherently good or bad. Realistically, there is only so much Path of Exile you can play each league before you burn out on the goals you set for yourself.

It does not meaningfully speak to the quality of the league itself. Player numbers decline a few weeks in regardless of whether the league is good or bad, a banger or a total shit show. That drop-off is a constant, not an exception. Because of that, using retention as a direct indicator of league quality is misleading, as it reflects predictable player behavior far more than it does the actual success or failure of the content.

Pointless to give triple-A game companies any sort of constructive criticism without getting put on probation (or banned). GGG's downfall is drawing near.

I'm at that point where if they keep nerfing things for ultra casuals and dont let them get good items then this is going to be the cycle from now on. Not like I havent seen this before it happens every league the dropouts but the past leagues the retention seems to have been extremely poor..

Not sure what made mercenaries so good it did good on retention at least better than this one and keepers..

God the t17 nerf is the biggest reason I'm struggling to want to keep going. Same with my friends. There just isn't anything to do other that spam braindead easy maps, or chain boss.

The increased t16 map drops, decreased mechanics drop value, and buffed running white bosses... like wtf were they thinking? This is the most bland league ever.

You've got to be like... soccer dad levels of casual to think this league is great.
