I think this is spot on.

It is Spark that is the main problem. It's such a constant source because it is everywhere. Let alone the fact that playing co-op with someone who is using this mechanic is miserable because it's eye cancer. You can hardly see what your own build is doing.

However, I certainly think that CoC has to be immediately addressed, as well. This combo is such a crutch for players that never really learn how to play the game by understanding it because they just copy/paste the same build guides while the ascendancy simply changes. And this grants them the ability to trivialize the most difficult aspects of the game. I have witnessed players who rely on it so much that when they try a new build, they don't even dodge attacks of bosses and get wrecked because they are so used to holding down a button to produce Spark constantly while not knowing the movesets.

Nerfing this interaction will probably aid in player retention as well.
