Confront Kanu and the First Herald issue

Fighting the boss he killed me with little to no health, the boss had bleed on him so he died after i died. The story line didn't continue and i am unable to access the next area (Excavation) to progress through the story.

I am unable to reset the zone to fight the boss again.
